Help shape the future of support for male survivors
The Male Survivors Partnership (MSP) is establishing a Lived Experience Network (LEN) for survivors who want to help shape the future of support, justice and recovery for male survivors across the UK.
The LEN offers opportunities for survivors to connect with one another, share experiences and ideas, and help organisations learn from lived experience. Members may also have opportunities to contribute to consultations, projects, research, campaigns and wider advocacy work, depending on their interests and availability.
Whether you’ve previously spoken publicly about your experiences or are simply interested in using your lived experience to help improve support for male survivors, we’d love to hear from you.
Express your interest
If you’d like to find out more or express an interest in joining the Lived Experience Network, we’d love to hear from you.
The first step is simply to complete our short Expression of Interest Form.
Completing the form does not commit you to joining the network. It simply lets us know you’d like to hear more about the LEN and how you might like to be involved.
How much you get involved is entirely up to you. Members can choose how and when they would like to take part, and there is no expectation that everyone will contribute to every opportunity.
What is the Lived Experience Network?
The Lived Experience Network (LEN) brings together survivors from across the UK who want to use their lived experience to help shape positive change.
Members of the LEN may have opportunities to:
- Share experiences, ideas and opportunities with other survivors.
- Help organisations better understand the needs and experiences of male survivors.
- Inform the development of support, services and resources.
- Contribute to research, consultations and campaigns where appropriate.
- Support survivor-led thinking around support, justice and recovery.
- Encourage collaboration across organisations working with male survivors.
Informal Online Q&A session
We’re hosting a short informal online Q&A session (approximately 25–30 minutes) for anyone who would like to find out more about the network before deciding whether they’d like to become involved.
During the session you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Learn more about the aims of the LEN.
- Meet some of the people developing the network.
- Ask any questions you may have.
- Find out what future involvement could look like.
Attending the Q&A session does not commit you to joining the network. It is simply an opportunity to learn more.
We’re currently considering two possible dates and will hold the session on whichever date is most popular:
- Tuesday 7 July – 12:30pm
- Tuesday 14 July – 10:30am
If you’d like to attend, please complete the Doodle Poll or email [email protected] with your preferred date.
Meet the people developing the LEN
Tanaka Mhishi – Tanaka is a male survivor who works with charities, universities and media organisations, using storytelling to help shape everyday practice around sexual trauma.
Mel Barnard – Mel is Clinical Lead for Mankind UK and is committed to delivering survivor-led therapeutic support for people affected by sexual violence.

For MSP member organisations
The Lived Experience Network (LEN) is being established to help ensure that the voices of male survivors continue to inform the future of support, justice and recovery.
As the network develops, we hope it will create opportunities for MSP member organisations to engage with survivors in meaningful and appropriate ways, helping to shape services, projects, research, campaigns and wider sector developments.
Further information about how member organisations can work with the LEN will be shared as the network evolves.
