TIGERS – award-winning play written by a survivor reaches AETF Grand Final
TIGERS is a powerful play written by survivor Brian Hutchinson. The production tells the story of Robert, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, who during a lucid dream meets his younger self and is forced to confront the trauma, shame and guilt he has carried for decades.
This year, Brian has rewritten and reworked the production, with the latest version going from strength to strength.
In Brian’s own words:
“This story evolved from an event that took moments to endure and a lifetime to come to an end. It’s done in a poetical manner and makes something quite horrendous into something very special. Above all else… TIGERS is a message of hope and compassion for survivors of sexual abuse.”
The production was nominated for “Best Original Script”, with both actors being nominated for “best actor”, and has since gone on to win the Northern All England Theatre Festival (AETF) Finals at Saltburn-on-Sea.
TIGERS will now be performed at the AETF Grand Final on 30th May at the Leicester Little Theatre.
