The Tackling Child Abuse Unit is holding an online meeting where invited service leads can put questions directly to the Safeguarding Minister, Jess Phillips.

🗓️ Date: Tuesday 22 July

⏰ Time: 15:00–16:00

Lucy Hughes, CEO at Mankind UK, will be attending and is happy to ask questions you might like to put to the Minister.

The Question Already Submitted

“How does she plan to ensure, and evidence, that the work the Unit does properly addresses needs specific to boys?”

This was submitted with the following context for the officials hosting the meeting:

We know that the Tackling Child Abuse team has a remit for all children and officials are very good at seeing the full picture, but ministers regularly refer only to girls when they should say children.  Public discussion still focusses solely on protecting girls, which has serious knock-on effects for male victims. It creates barriers to help seeking, prevention projects miss addressing victimisation of boys, and services can’t fund support work with men and boys etc.
